Beer and racing go together like summertime and fireworks. And with summer about to officially kick off soon, the Charlotte Motor Speedway is putting the delightful pairing together over Memorial Day Weekend at the Coca-Cola 600.
Our pals at Chicken Bone Alley will be covering the race this weekend, but they should be covering the beer setup at the Fan Zone. This weekend $10 gets you five pours on location for the race.
During Saturday and Sunday fans can swing by the Fan Zone and taste an unlimited amount of delicious North Carolina (and elsewhere) craft beer.

You can also purchase a “Beer Lover’s Package” ($39, 3 hours of unlimited sampling, tunes, access to Beer Haven) or a $79 “Brewmasters’ VIP Package” (1 hour VIP entry to the Beer Haven, 4 hours of unlimited sampling, commemorative glass, music).
There’s a huge list of beers there, but if we had to pick five we’d want to try we’d go with the Ass Clown Brewing Toasted Coconut Stout, Deep River Brewing Mango Tango IPA, Fullsteam Coffee Is For Closers Porter, Old Mecklenberg Brewing Hornet’s Nest Hefe and Blind Squirrel Backwoods Blonde beer.
There’s also tons of stuff from Oksar Blues (see: the giant car, which is being used in actual racing), New Belgium, Ballast Point, Sierra Nevada, Sweetwater and other national breweries plus a host of local stuff.
If you’re in Charlotte, at the race and looking to soak in some local flavors, we highly recommend a visit.
