The Durham Bulls continue to innovate the experience of enjoying a minor-league baseball game and are adding a brewery inside the Durham Bulls Athletic Park the team announced on Friday.

Bull Durham Beer Co. will be the first-ever brewery inside of a minor-league baseball ballpark with the addition to the ballpark coming during the 20th anniversary of DBAP this season.

“The Durham Bulls have a lot to offer with fun, games and good food, and now we are taking refreshing beers to a totally new level,” executive brewmaster Sebastian Wolfrum said. “Our one-of-a-kind craft brewery will redefine the game experience where fans can not only enjoy freshly brewed beverages, but be a part of the process as we create our two inaugural beers before their eyes.”

Those two beers sound like some pretty solid summer offerings.

There’s a Water Tower Wheat (a famous, old-school water tower is part of the Durham skyline from a park view) and a Lollygagger Kolsch-style ale. Sounds like perfection for hot summer gameday.

As a smart marketing bonus, fans attending games can watch the beers in the process of being brewed and will be able to purchase/consume once they’re ready.

The brewery will make the beers available to restaurants in the surrounding area (a really underrated part of Durham’s revitalized downtown).

The Brewery will additionally offer “a more diverse selection of seasonal beers as the year progresses.”

Not that we needed another reason to head out to Durham and hit up a baseball game.
