Mystery Brewing’s Jack Thorne is their version of a traditional English-Style Porter, based on one of the first recipes in post-prohibition America. Go figure. It pours dark w/ a quickly dissipating head. Great coffee smell with notes of vanilla & chocolate. If only I had packed my bags and quit right here (is the label creeping into my thoughts too much?).

The mouthfeel of Jack Thorne is quite thin, watered down even. Roasty, chocolate flavors are a bit dumbed down. There’s also a hint of sweet tobacco, but unfortunately it comes w/ a bit of the ashtray as well.  All in all, a bit of a miss for me. It could really use more body and a bump up on all the ingredients involved. It’s all there, just needs more of them.
